Welcome to another episode of the podcast. In today’s episode, I will be giving an overview of the possible reconstruction options available to women who have had a mastectomy following breast cancer surgery.
In the UK, if you have been recommended or choose to have a mastectomy as part of cancer treatment, then you should be offered the possibility of having a breast reconstruction. The discussions surrounding breast reconstruction can be quite complex and overwhelming. Some people are able to make decisions quite quickly and decisively, for others, however, making a decision during an already stressful time can be quite overwhelming.
In this episode, I break down and go through the commonest breast reconstruction options. I also talk about the merits of each type of surgery including the surgery times and the recovery times and the different factors that may favour one type of surgery over the other.
If you would also like to read and recap this episode, all the information can be found in this blog post.
